Help Keep the Red Cross Specially Marked License Plate in Florida!
In 2002 the American Red Cross worked with Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to offer an American Red Cross branded license plate for the state of Florida that met all of the necessary requirements of the state. The ability to offer this special license plate provides the Red Cross in Florida with a way for the public to show support for the Red Cross while generating a revenue stream that requires minimal effort by the organization.
How it works:
Revenue is generated from the sale of the special plates. Purchasers who want to support an organization, such as the American Red Cross, are charged an increased fee by the DMV and a portion of the extra cost is provided to the organization.
License Plate, American Red Cross. Statutory Authority, 320.08058. Date Enacted, July 1, 2002. Special Plate Fee: $25.00 annually; New Plate Fee: $28.00 (plus registration fees).
How do I purchase a specialty license plate? Go to your local DMV office to purchase the Red Cross plate (you cannot do it online). This can be done now or when you renew your registration at your local tax collector's office. Simply let them know you wish to replace your current license plate with a specialty license plate.
Red Cross in the State of Florida has utilized the dollars to scholarship Red Crossers from every chapter/region in Florida to attend the Emergency Services Summit as well as the Florida Governor’s Hurricane Conference.
