Tennessee Volunteer Tends To Emotional Needs In Boston

Dianne Britton deploys from Tennessee to help the emotional needs of those affected in Boston.
When you get to do this work, I think you get to see people at their very best.

Dianne Britton has responded to many disasters over the years.

Hurricanes, a church shooting and even fires in San Bernardino. The Red Cross volunteer from Knoxville, Tennessee has seen a lot of tragedy, but she’s always been there to support emotional needs as a disaster mental health volunteer.

“When you get to do this work, I think you get to see people at their very best,” she said. Her visit to Boston was no different.

Britton arrived to Boston on April 21, and helped organize volunteers and send them to various vigils and memorials.

She said it’s been a positive experience.

“Boston is a great town. I’ve been really impressed since I arrived,” she said. “There’s a great camaraderie here and strong support for each other. It’s Boston Strong.”
