Ambassador Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, chairman of the Board of Governors of the American Red Cross, and Steve Sadove, chairman and CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue, joined forces at the Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store in Manhattan February 5 to celebrate the launch of the month-long Saks–American Red Cross National Charity Partnership, “Send Your Love to a Cause.”
Joining McElveen-Hunter and Sadove were Rob Maruster, Greater New York Board chair, numerous American Red Cross Board of Governors members, Red Cross supporters and corporate partners.
McElveen-Hunter said the American Red Cross is proud to have been selected as a National Charity Partner.
The evening featured cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, music and a fashion show, with pieces from Stella McCartney, Dior, Proenza Schouler, Yves Saint Laurent, Dsquared2, Emilio Pucci and more. The models also wore David Yurman’s iconic jewelry and accessories.
The initiative runs from Feb. 1 through Feb. 28, 2013. During this time, customers may select the Red Cross or several local charities to receive 5 percent of their total purchases made with a Saks Fifth Avenue credit card.
Donations will help the Red Cross provide lifesaving services and programs every day, whether responding to home fires, supporting major disasters such as Hurricane Sandy, collecting blood, teaching skills that can save a life, or assisting military members and their families.
