NEW ORLEANS. Monday, November 4, 2013 — American Red Cross Southeast Louisiana Chapter and Wendy’s have teamed up to support the Holiday Mail for Heroes program this holiday season.
From November 9 through November 11, Greater New Orleans residents can show their gratitude and best wishes for those who serve our country, veterans and their families by stopping in at participating Wendy’s restaurants to sign a card. Participating Wendy’s restaurants will also donate a portion of their sales during this Veterans Day weekend to the American Red Cross. Click here for a list of participating locations.
“Our Wendy's family is proud and honored to partner with the American Red Cross, in showing our thanks to our troops. Their service to our country never goes unnoticed and we thank them for that,” said Tony Diaz, Wendy’s director of area operations.
Cards signed at Wendy’s locations will be forwarded to Red Cross volunteers across the United States and on military installations overseas to sort and deliver the cards throughout the holiday season. Since 2006, the Red Cross has received and distributed more than 6.5 million cards for members of the U.S. Armed Forces, veterans and their families through this holiday program.
“The generous support of Wendy’s will make a difference for America’s military families as well as the people and communities affected by disasters,” said Kay W. Wilkins, CEO for the South Louisiana Region. “It’s partnerships like these that enable the Red Cross to provide services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to service members and their families who may be in need. We are very grateful for their support of our lifesaving mission.”
Holiday Mail for Heroes is a nationwide program of the American Red Cross. Last year more than 1.8 million cards were distributed to the troops and their families as a part of our annual Holiday Campaign.
Through Holiday Mail for Heroes, people can express their gratitude and best wishes for the holiday season to those who give the ultimate gift to our country. Service members, veterans and their families will receive cards across the country and around the world.
For more than 130 years, the Red Cross has provided comfort and support to members of the United States military. For more information on the Holiday Mail for Heroes program visit, www.RedCross.org/NewOrleans.
“It just takes a moment to sign a card to share your appreciation for the sacrifices members of the military community make,” Wilkins added. “You say thanks, and we’ll do the rest.”
