Youth dance raises more than $1,500 for food pantry

They came, they saw, they danced.

More than 300 students turned out for Youth Program’s annual Winter Blackout Dance on Jan. 12, and helped raise more than $1,500 for the Red Cross Food Pantry.

“It was such a great night and everybody had so much fun,” explained Shawna Dias, Youth Programs manager.

Held in Great Hall at the State House, the danced was sponsored by Rep. Kathi-Anne Reinstein, D-Revere. Jarrett Barrios, CEO of the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts, shared a few words with the vibrant crowd, which danced the night away. Later, Rep. Nick Collins, D-Boston, stopped by to say hello.
