Organizations Champion, Recognize and Unite: Red Cross International Services designated as the “Charitable Beneficiary”
In a world of growing risks that include climate change and urbanization, we experience more frequent disasters that impact more people and require help, relief and support. In a shared commitment to humanitarianism, the Asian World Film Festival and the Red Cross Los Angeles Region have partnered for the film festival, which is coming to Southern California from October 26-November 2.
Red Cross International Services is designated as the charitable beneficiary of the Asian World Film Festival gala dinner (at Akasha Restaurant in Culver City) to be held Nov. 1, as well as the charitable beneficiary of the proceeds of an online Charity Buzz auction. Funds raised will help American Red Cross International Services provide immediate relief and long-term support to the victims of countless crises around the world each year and contribute to the organization’s commitment to building more resilient and safer communities. The festival team selected the Red Cross International Services—especially its focus on international preparedness work all across Asia — as the perfect fit for the Festival.
“The Asian World Film Festival is proud to have the Red Cross as the Official Charity Partner for our launch this year as their work and humanitarian efforts throughout the years greatly align with our purpose and value and bringing people together for this Festival,” said George Chamcoum, Executive Director of the Festival and Programming.
“Sharing a strong commitment to help those communities that are most vulnerable to bounce back after a disaster is what is so exciting about this partnership,” said Jarrett Barrios, CEO of the Los Angeles Region Red Cross. “The funds raised will help us to ensure that our humanitarian mission here and around the world, can be realized.”
