On Friday, March 28 a 5.1 earthquake rocked North Orange County just after 9 p.m. The earthquake was felt widely throughout Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura counties and was followed by multiple aftershocks.
Surveillance video at Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour in Brea, which is located approximately 2 miles from the quake’s epicenter, captured the impact of the earthquake and showed customers taking cover under tables. The video quickly went viral.
In an effort to encourage Southern California residents to be prepared, Farrell’s created a limited edition Rocky Road flavored milkshake and donated all proceeds from the sales of these shakes to the American Red Cross. Additionally, Farrell’s distributed earthquake preparedness information and materials at each of their seven California locations.
