The San Gabriel Pomona Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross announced three board appointments aimed at strengthening the capabilities and resources of the chapter, it was announced by CEO Ben Green.
Effective immediately, Frank L Waterman, Gene Jeffers and Rick Henderson are named board members.
“These three appointments of individuals with deep roots and a wealth of experience in our communities – and with enduring tenure of service to the Red Cross and our missions -- will bring excellent skills and valuable relationships to our chapter,” says Green. “We are aggressively working to meet our goals of preparedness and resilience for our valley neighbors.”
Frank L Waterman has been a private banker with Wells Fargo for 10 years. He is also an active member of the Pasadena Rotary, currently on their grants and Teachers of Excellence committees. He is also an Elks member of the Pasadena Lodge.
Waterman received his Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from the University of California, San Diego. While at UCSD, he was the Secretary of the Transfer Students Association and also the Eleanor Roosevelt College Transfer Student Liaison.
Gene Jeffers has supported the Red Cross for more than 30 years in volunteer and staff capacities. He has worked in nonprofit organizations for the past 45 years, most recently as Executive Director of the Themed Entertainment Association (2001 – 2013), the worldwide nonprofit trade alliance representing the creators of compelling places and experiences Previous positions include Executive Director of the American Red Cross Inland Valley Chapter; Executive Director of the Western Insurance Information Service; VP, Public Affairs and Communications of the National Association of Broadcasters; and a variety of positions at the American National Red Cross Headquarters, including Head of Media Relations, Assistant Director of Public Affairs, and Corporate Photographer. Jeffers’ volunteer roles with the Red Cross include Dean and Instructor at national Red Cross PR/communications conferences and service on the Communications committees of various chapters. He is the recipient of an American National Red Cross Tiffany Award and of the first Themed Entertainment Association Service Award, among other honors.
Rick Henderson is Vice President, Corporate Controller for Parsons Corporation, an international engineering company headquartered in Pasadena. He has served in several key financial positions in his 15 years with the company, including being in charge of finance and accounting for the Middle East North Africa region, located in Abu Dhabi. Henderson’s involvement with the Red Cross started in 2013, when he joined the newly created Executive Committee for the San Gabriel Valley Prepare project. He is an active fund raiser and has helped set the strategic direction for this important project.
Henderson has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. He also attended the Senior Executive Program at the London Business School of Economics in London, England.
