Beginning in August 2013 and concluding in February 2014, the Dream Bike Charity Sweepstakes, a promotion giving away hand-built road bikes from Calfee Design, Rock Lobster Cycles, Black Cat, Caletti Cycles and Hunter. All proceeds from each raffle, a total of $45, 015, were donated to five charities selected by the frame builders. Each bike was outfitted with Shimano Dura Ace and Easton EC90 components including the new EC90 Aero 55 wheelset.
As the fifth and final installment in the Easton Dream Bike Charity Sweepstakes, Easton Bikes gave away a customized red Hunter bicycle at the end of February. $5 tickets were purchased through Easton’s Facebook page throughout the month of February and 100% of the proceeds went directly towards the American Red Cross. Rick Hunter of Hunter Cycles stated, “There are a lot of great nonprofits in the world. But Red Cross… They’re the ones on the ground, offering help to the people that need it most,”
With 1,406 tickets sold, the sweepstakes raised $7,030 for the American Red Cross and the winner of the Hunter Cycle went to Jacob Kane of Phoenix, Arizona.
“This sweepstakes was a chance for riders to win one-of-a-kind bikes from legendary frame builders practicing their craft in Easton’s corner of the world while at the same time raising a significant amount of money for charity,” said Easton Brand Manager Dain Zaffke. “We saw a great opportunity to give the best in the business and their artisan work a wider exposure while benefiting charities of their choice. Of course, we outfitted each bike with the best possible Easton EC90 components, including our new EC90 Aero 55 wheelset, the fastest road racing wheelset available.”
When asked about the bike Hunter said, “I wanted to make this thing special. It’s basically my dream road bike, in a smaller size.”
