FARMINGTON, CONN., November 21, 2013 - The American Red Cross is helping 11 people with emergency needs after fires today in Hartford and West Haven.
The Red Cross is helping a family three adults and four children with emergency housing and food needs after a fire today on Brook Street in Hartford. The children were provided stuffed animal toys. Red Cross workers Rebecca Johnson and Pat Calcinari responded to assist the families.
In West Haven, the Red Cross is helping three adults and one child in two families with emergency housing needs after a fire on Clark Street. The child was provided a stuffed animal toy as well. Lionel Dunlap and Sue Parker responded from the Red Cross to assist the families.
The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.
American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
