Red Cross Helping Five People After Jewett City Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing and food needs.

JEWETT CITY, CONN., NOVEMBER 3, 2013 – The American Red Cross is helping five people – two adults and three children – with emergency housing and food needs after  fire Saturday on Mechanic Street in Jewett City. Red Cross worker Sue Bolen and volunteers Fred Bolen and Chris Hinkelman responded to assist the family.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire. 

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
