Red Cross Helps 13 People After New Haven Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

NEW HAVEN, CONN., October 13, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping a family of 13 – eight adults and five children after a fire early this morning on Ferry Street in New Haven. The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

Red Cross volunteers Lionel Dunlap, Peter Fusco, Missy Lundeen, John Jenson and John Glendon responded to assist the residents.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
