Red Cross Helps Six People After New Haven Fire

The Red Cross is providing help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

NEW HAVEN, CONN., September 8, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping a family of two adults and four children with emergency housing, food and clothing needs after a fire on Saturday, September 6, on Cedar Hill Avenue in New Haven. Stuffed animal toys were provided for the displaced children.

Red Cross volunteers John Glendon, Jennifer Atkins and Josalee Thrift responded to assist the family.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
