Red White & YOU Ball to Benefit the Red Cross on May 30

We are offering a playful event this year, in the spirit of the children we reach every day.

FARMINGTON, CONN., April 22, 2015 – The American Red Cross presents the 10th annual Red White & YOU Ball on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford. The theme is “Building a Better Tomorrow for Children and Families.” Tickets and more information are available at Mohegan Sun is Gold Sponsor of the Ball.

“Our mission to build resilient communities begins with families and children,” said American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region CEO Mario Bruno. “This year’s Ball highlights the programs and services we offer to support them.”

Bruno said the Ball will feature interactive entertainment and guest appearances that “promise to make it a fun evening for everyone there in support of the Red Cross.”

ESPN Commentator and host of ESPN’s NFL Live and NFL Primetime, Trey Wingo, is the evening’s host. The Ball will feature a performance by Stratford native Javier Colon, winner of NBC’s The Voice. Adaiah Stevens of Danbury, a finalist on Fox Network’s Master Chef Junior, will prepare a special dessert for Ball guests.

Honorary Chairs for the Ball are Kim and Stew Leonard, Jr. The Leonards received the Community Impact Award last year, recognizing their commitment to the Red Cross through support of water safety programs and local Red Cross services. “Stew and I were honored by the award and are thrilled to be part of the event this year,” said Kim Leonard. “It will be a wonderful evening supporting the life changing work of the Red Cross.”

Leonard said the Community Impact Award recipient this year is ESPN. “ESPN and its employees are tremendous partners of the Red Cross and truly deserve this honor.”

Bruno said ESPN supports Red Cross disaster relief and programs that serve young people. The company also has collected thousands of units of blood at drives in Connecticut that it has sponsored since 2001. “They demonstrate a commitment to the Red Cross at every level of the organization.”

“The Ball will have something for everyone,” Bruno said. The event begins with a reception at 6:00 p.m., featuring silent auction items, interactive photo booths and more. “We are offering a playful event this year, in the spirit of the children we reach every day.”
