Red Cross Helping Six People After Providence Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency housing, food and clothing needs.

PROVIDENCE, R.I., November 16, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping six people – five adults and one child in three families – after a fire Saturday night on Commodore Street in Providence.

Four adults and one child in two families received help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs. A single adult received help with emergency food and clothing needs.

Red Cross volunteers Bob Foti, Lori Foti and Dan Costa responded to assist the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items residents might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
