Red Cross Helping Two Families After Providence Fire

The Red Cross is helping with emergency needs after the fire.

PROVIDENCE, R.I., February 20, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping four people – three adults and one child in two families – after a fire yesterday on Sears Avenue in Providence. The Red Cross is providing a family of two adults with help for emergency food and clothing needs and is providing a family of one adult and one child help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs. Red Cross volunteers Mike Cote and Paul Taylor responded to assist the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
