The American Red Cross will honor FM Global, one of the world’s largest business property insurers and Rhode Island’s largest private company, with the Workplace Hero Award during the Fourth Annual Rhode Island Heroes Breakfast Friday, October 23.
For decades, FM Global has been working to help provide fire service agencies worldwide with the funding they need to support a wide array of fire prevention, preparedness and control efforts through their Fire Prevention Grant Program. Through the program, FM Global has awarded millions of dollars to support fire prevention activities, including using the funding for community education, arson prevention, high-tech purchases, and pre-fire planning. FM Global helps applicants throughout the whole process of getting the grant. With this program, eligible organizations that support fire prevention can receive up to $2,500, on average, depending on their need.
“FM Global believes that the majority of property loss can be prevented and they are helping those working to combat fire have the training and resources they need,” said Tempie Thompson, Executive Director, American Red Cross Rhode Island. “The American Red Cross has been working as an organization to help reduce the risk of injuries and death due to fire through our Home Fire Prevention Campaign and we are thrilled to honor FM Global with the Workplace Hero Award for their commitment to helping prevent fires through their Fire Prevention Grant Program.”
FM Global, along with other local heroes will be honored at the Fourth Annual Rhode Island Heroes Breakfast Friday, October 23 at the Omni Providence Hotel, located at 1 West Exchange Street in Providence. The presenting sponsor at the event is Webster Bank. Other sponsors include Marcum LLP, Amica Insurance, and Bank of America.
