Red Cross Support Following Valhalla Crash

Red Cross Supports Families and First Responders Following Tragic Crash.
The Red Cross will continue to stand alongside these families on their difficult journey ahead.

Yesterday evening American Red Cross volunteers and employees raced to the scene of a tragic commuter train crash in Valhalla, N.Y. to comfort devastated community members and to support first responders.

Stationed near the crash site, Red Cross teams worked through the night to provide relief and comfort to hundreds of emergency workers and first responders working in extreme conditions. This assistance consists of hot beverages, soup, snacks, hand warmers, water and other relief items and will continue throughout the day.

The Red Cross has also been working with our local partners to provide emotional and spiritual support to family members as they await information on loved ones and as they process the tragic news. This work is conducted by an extraordinary group of trained mental-health professionals who serve as Red Cross volunteers. The Red Cross will continue to stand alongside these families on their difficult journey ahead.
