It’s been amazing to see the generosity come out of the community.

The annual Red Cross Heroes Campaign has raised over $41,000 to-date thanks to the generosity of donors in the National Capital Region. Recently, two local companies, Petroleum Marketing Group and Swift, made significant donations to the campgain, which raises money for Red Cross services.

Petroleum Marketing Group, a distributor and jobber of petroleum products and services, located in Woodbrige, VA, raised $14,227 through a customer donation program. Swift, a global provider of secure financial messaging, located in Manassas, VA, donated $10,000. Both companies are enthusiastic supporters of the Red Cross and previous donors.

"It's been amazing to see the generosity come out of the community. People are stepping up in a big way," said Erwin Stierle, Red Cross Community Executive for Prince William and Loudoun Counties.

Over 15 other "Heroes" have raised funds through the annual campaign that supports Red Cross programs in the National Capital Region. Local individuals, businesses, and volunteers can become a "Hero" by raising at least $1,000 for the campaign, which began Novemer 1 and runs through December 31, 2013.
