Kendra Doedderlein has been a volunteer with the American Red Cross of Delmarva for just over one year. She very quickly became an active member of the Community Events team and frequently attends health fairs and represents the Red Cross at local community tables. In addition, Kendra took the first Pillowcase Project training that was offered and has been an integral part of the team that has been delivering the Pillowcase Project curriculum to more than 3,000 students on the Delmarva Peninsula since March 2014.
Kendra is also the lone Blood Services volunteer active in the southern part of the peninsula, making her the go to volunteer for any and all blood drives scheduled in her area. In late September, Kendra single handedly staffed the front end of a large blood drive at the Cape Henlopen State park. Just a few days prior, she had traveled more than two hours to be available at a Northern Delaware library for a Pillowcase Presentation that was open to the public.
Kendra has also taken the lead in meeting with clients in the Crisfield area who are still recovering from Superstorm Sandy. Kendra meets with the families one-on-one as they move into their rebuilt homes and provides them with assistance in planning for future disasters. Kendra then presents each family with an American Red Cross preparedness kit provided by a small grant.
Kendra regularly travels the entire length of the peninsula to making herself available for any service in her area of expertise. She constantly goes above and beyond for the organization and the community we serve. No matter what the need, she is always available to meet it, even on short notice and regardless of the driving distance.
