Delegates from 35 Red Cross societies across the Americas will meet in Houston March 28 -30, 2015 for the 20th Inter-American Conference, a three-day meeting, to plan ways to best support the global goals of the International Federation.
The March 2015 congress will mark the first time the Inter-American Conference has been held in the U.S. The meeting will bring nearly 300 delegates to the Woodlands Resort and Conference Center just north of Houston.
Delegates from approximately 20 observer countries outside the Americas region also will attend.
Recruitment now is under way for volunteers from the Houston Area, who can play many important roles in the success of the conference.
There are several fascinating opportunities for volunteers to provide a number of essential services – as airport greeters, to help delegates complete a conference evaluation, to create and distribute conference documents, to manage media services, to help stage events, and much more.
All volunteers will receive free parking and meals during their shifts, and will wear an official conference polo shirt and lapel pin. Certificates of recognition also will be given to each volunteer.
“Our volunteers will contribute to the hospitality and efficiency of an important, high-level conference,” said Kimberly Patel, Program Manager, Volunteer Services. “It also is an opportunity to polish your language, inter-personal, organizational and management skills in an exciting and culturally diverse setting.”
