Red Cross Response Continues Following Spirit Lake Apartment Fire

Fire Safety

The American Red Cross serving Greater Iowa continues to meet with those displaced by Sunday’s fire at Lakes Apartments in Spirit Lake. Five residents stayed overnight on Monday at the emergency shelter at Spirit Life Fellowship Church at 2504 Enterprise Avenue. The Red Cross met with 12 individuals on Monday and provided assistance for housing, food, clothing and other emergency needs. Volunteers will continue meeting one-on-one with residents to determine what they may need for their recovery.

The Red Cross would like to express our sincere condolences to the friends and family of the individual lost in the fire. Events like fires can cause feelings of uncertainty, anger, frustration and anxiety. This is a time when people should take care of themselves and their families. Eat healthy, drink plenty of water and get enough rest. Be patient with yourself and others. The Red Cross is working with Gentiva Hospice and offering mental health support for those in need.
