Eastern North Carolina Red Cross - serving dinner in disasters

Hailey, ID, August 17, 2013

  • The Red Cross Shelter is at 1050 Fox Acres Rd. – Near the Airport – In the Community Center
  • Last night, we had 20 residents with 14 more arriving this morning.
  • The Shelter provides sleeping cots, Comfort Kits, meals, showers and lavatories, as well as health or mental health support.
  • While we appreciate the offers, we do not need additional volunteers. The Shelter is staffed with trained Red Cross volunteers who are versed in shelter management and case work.
  • Some families who have been displaced are staying with friends or family. If you know of someone whose home has been damaged or destroyed, have them call us at 800-853-2570 Option #1 for assistance.

  • The Shelter at 440 E. 8th St. N will be closed at 8:00 p.m. tonight.
