The American Red Cross of the Heartland is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim McEvers as the interim Executive Director in central Illinois. McEvers, a 26-year resident of the Bloomington-area, previously served as the development officer for the chapter. Lyn Hruska, the previous executive director, accepted a new position with the Red Cross last month.
“I am very excited to carry on the tradition of service excellence established by Lyn Hruska during the search for a permanent executive,” said McEvers, “These are large shoes to fill, but I am eager to continue delivering the Red Cross mission to area residents.”
In our last fiscal year, ARC of the Heartland gave 196 families hope after their lives were affected by a disaster, helped 93 military families connect to their loved ones and trained 7,934 people how to live healthier, safer and prepare for emergencies.
“We are all very pleased with the selection of Jim as our interim Executive Director,” says Leanna Bordner, board chair. “As a veteran of the Red Cross in Illinois, our volunteers and staff all know and respect him, and have the highest regard for his abilities and commitment to our local Red Cross mission.”
The ARC of the Heartland Board of Directors is currently engaged in a search for a permanent executive to lead and guide the local chapter. The board hopes to make a permanent appointment in early 2014.
