The American Red Cross and Walmart are partnering to provide residents and communities with emergency preparedness training and education to help build safer communities across Kansas. Preparedness training focuses on educating families for potential disasters and other emergencies that can strike suddenly, at anytime and anywhere.
On Saturday, August 16, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Walmart in Marysville, Emporia, and Holton will support the Red Cross and help deliver lifesaving preparedness information to residents. Red Cross volunteers will assist residents to develop a disaster plan, receive preparedness tips, and learn more about preparedness in their community. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win a weather radio provided by Walmart for their participation in the training.
Additional events are scheduled for:
Junction City, August 23
Manhattan, September 13
Topeka stores at 37th Street and Wanamaker, September 13
The events are free and open to the public. For more information on Red Cross disaster preparedness, or to host a preparedness event at your business, please contact Lisa Biggs at 785-354-9230 or Lisa.Biggs@redcross.org.
