American Red Cross of Alaska Helps 91 People in the Month of March

 

April 21, 2017 — The American Red Cross of Alaska responds to calls for assistance, on average, almost once a day statewide. Of the 91 people helped in March, at least 27 were children under the age of 18, including eight who were listed as young children. One of those assisted were age 60 or older.

 

Breakdown of the Alaska service area:

 

Anchorage: 29 individuals received aid.

Fairbanks: 22 individuals received aid.

Kwigillingok: 8 individuals received aid.

Valdez: 3 individuals received aid.

Nikiski: 5 individuals received aid.

Noorvik: 5 individuals received aid.

Delta Junction: 1 individuals received aid.

Juneau: 7 individuals received aid.

Anchor Point: 3 individuals received aid.

North Pole: 10 individuals received aid.

Soldotna: 3 individuals received aid.

 

The families and individuals were provided a place to stay, money for clothes, food and medicine. Along with providing casework for the residents in a quick and efficient time frame, Red Cross volunteers will continue to provide support to these families going forward, by doing follow up work to ensure all needs are met and the individuals have a clear path to recovery from this personal disaster.
