The American Red Cross has been helping people affected by the Cole Creek Fire since the fire forced evacuations and destroyed homes on Sunday, Oct. 11.
The Red Cross of Wyoming opened an evacuation center quickly in response to the call for evacuations, and then met with displaced residents individually to address their needs. The Red Cross has been assisting people affected by the Cole Creek Fire by providing food, clothing and temporary shelter at local motels, as well as assistance replacing medications lost in the fire.
On Wednesday, Oct. 14, the Red Cross began delivering rakes, shovels and other supplies to help residents with their clean-up efforts in Cole Creek.
The supply distribution will continue this weekend in the Cole Creek area on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 17 and 18, from 10 am-5 pm. Red Cross workers will be distributing rakes, shovels, work gloves and other cleanup items. They will also be handing out water and snacks. A Disaster Mental Health counselor will be on scene to provide assistance and information.
The Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) will be stationed at Cole Creek and Geary Dome distributing items, and the Red Cross truck will also be driving around the area handing out items.
All items are provided free of charge to those affected by the fire. Assistance is provided through donations to the American Red Cross. Those wishing to make a donation can go to www.redcross.org/wyoming or they can call the local office at (307) 237-8436.
