The American Red Cross opened an emergency shelter at the Burlington Community Center on Tuesday, Nov.17 in response to severe winter weather that forced road closures. Twenty-two people in need of a warm, safe place to go stayed at the shelter. Red Cross volunteers were able to provide food as well as emotional and minor medical support at the Red Cross shelter.
The shelter closed at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, as conditions had improved and roads had reopened.
