"Imagine if every person in our community pledged to help just one family..."

American Red Cross Giving Day will take place on Thursday, April 21. During this 24-hour event, people across the Eastern New York Region are invited to come together to support the Red Cross as it meets its critical and lifesaving mission of helping families affected by disasters and other emergencies.

“Imagine if every person in our community pledged to help just one family,” said Gary Striar, CEO of the American Red Cross Eastern New York Region. “Think of how much good we could do together, on Giving Day.”

Every year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 66,000 disasters nationwide. The vast majority of these are home fires – where a family has lost everything from the roof over their heads to their most cherished possessions. In the Eastern New York Region, the Red Cross responds to nearly 500 local disasters annually, helping more than 800 local families each year.

CDPHP is leading the call to #help1family in the Eastern New York Region as the Community Supporter of Giving Day. Join CDPHP and thousands of people like you to make a difference. A gift of just $88.50* can provide a family of three with a day’s worth of food, plus blankets and other essentials, after a disaster.

Gifts made on Giving Day could also help:

·         Deploy an emergency response vehicle for a day with a $335 donation
·         Provide clean-up kits for five families affected by disaster with a $120 donation
·         Supply six warm, hearty meals with a $60 donation
·         Deliver six comforting blankets with a $30 donation

“Giving Day is a great way to raise awareness of the work that the Red Cross does every day. A disaster can strike at any time, and the Red Cross is always there to lend a helping hand,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO, CDPHP. “As a longtime supporter of the Red Cross and its mission, CDPHP is proud to join this effort. We hope others in our community will too.”

“We certainly wouldn’t be able to fulfill our critical mission after home fires and other local disasters without the support of our community,” added Striar. “On Giving Day, you can help us provide vital assistance to families when they need it most.”

Schedule your gift now at or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation. All Giving Day donations will be processed on April 21, 2016.
