It feels like Christmas around the Red Cross. First, we had the Red Cross Giving Day on April 21, now on May 3, our region will come together for one BIG Day of Giving.
For the past two years, the BIG Day of Giving has rallied our community in raising nearly $9 million from over 36,000 donors from all over our region, the state, the country and the world!
The BIG Day of Giving is an opportunity not only for donors to show their community pride and support the nonprofits that are working hard to make our region great. BIG Day of Giving is also a part of a national giving day called Give Local America. Our region will join hundreds of communities across the country on May 3rd as we cross the finish line together! Last year, the nation raised over $68 million in 24 hours for over 9,000 nonprofits.
Now in its third year, the BIG Day of Giving has gained momentum and is continuing to grow. We are excited to be a part of this event and help our region reach a collective goal for the nonprofit sector: $6M in 24 hours from 30,000 donors on May 3rd, this year’s national giving day!
We, the American Red Cross Gold Country Region, were able to raise $25K last year and this year, our goal is to raise $35K with the support of over 100 donors.
How you can make a difference:
1) Spread the word. Tell your friends, post on Facebook, and tweet about it. This is an opportunity to be part of something really big! Simply share the following messages:
Dear Friends: Your local Red Cross is thrilled to participate in this year’s Big Day of Giving for the second time and we need your help to exceed the funds raised in 2015! This year, our goal during #BigDog2016 is only $35k, but we’d love to blow through it! Mark your calendars, on May 3rd, find us on https://bigdayofgiving.org and donate.
Mark your calendars… May 3, we’ve got 24 hours to donate to the #RedCross during #BigDog2016. http://goo.gl/PiA1Kh
2) On May 3rd, make a donation (starting as small as $25) to the American Red Cross at www.bigdayofgiving.org.
a. We are aiming to win one of the Hourly Prizes for Most Unique donors (a $1,000 prize will be awarded every hour during May 3rd to the NPO who has the highest number of unique donors during that hour.) How do we want to reach this prize challenge? On May 3, schedule your giving from 10-11am, 2-3:00pm, 9-10pm or all three! We can use the power of our huge volunteer list to see if we can get the most gifts in one or all of those hours, you can give as little as $25 dollars. Mark this as a calendar appointment and share with your friends and family. We can do this!
I recognize that you all do so much to support the Red Cross in time of disaster and every day - and I don’t take that contribution lightly. I hope that you will take the step to extend your generosity by joining me in donating what you can (as little as $25) to help us meet our goal and put us in the running for winning a prize challenge.
Thank you in advance for your generosity to our community; together, we can make a BIG impact!
