As of 12 noon on Tuesday, 13 people remain in the Kilauea Gymnasium shelter. Kauai Red Cross volunteers and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers began preliminary damage assessment in the areas of Hanalei, Koloa, and Anahola on Tuesday. Damage assessment in the same areas will continue throughout the week.

Four Oahu Red Cross volunteers were deployed on Monday to Kauai to help with sheltering and mental health, health services (nurse), and government relations.

On Oahu, volunteers are continuing damage assessment and providing affected residents with recovery information.

As of Tuesday, Red Cross damage assessment teams on Oahu have found 3 homes destroyed (36” or more water line in essential living space), 26 with major damage (18” or more water line in essential living space or above electrical outlets), 96 with minor damage (up to 18” water line in essential living space), and 38 homes that have been affected (any water line in crawl space or basement with undamaged essential living space).  These homes are in Niu Valley, Waimanalo, Kailua/Lanikai, Hawaii Kai, Kuliouou, and Aina Haina.  The 3 destroyed homes are in Kuliouou and most of the homes with major damage are located in the Niu Valley area.  Four homes remain inaccessible.
