Every 8 minutes, the American Red Cross responds to a disaster. Think about that for a quick second. 8 minutes from now, the American Red Cross will be deployed at another disaster to provide much needed relief for victims who are in desperate need.
Every year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 66,000 disasters nationwide – the vast majority of these are home fires – where a family has lost everything; the roof over their heads, their clothes, and their most cherished possessions.
Giving Day is on April 21st, and we need your support to make a meaningful impact for those who desperately need shelter, food, and other essentials after a disaster strikes their community.
"We are grateful to everyone who supports the mission of the Red Cross in Kansas. Whether you're a Social Ambassador or you open your pocketbooks, you help the Red Cross give emergency need and hope to those facing disasters," said Jill Orton, Region Executive.
This one-day event is designed to rally the public to support the Red Cross’s critical and lifesaving mission of helping families who have been affected by disasters or emergencies. The 2016 theme of our Giving Day is #Help1Family, because the Red Cross is committed to aiding people during their darkest hour and when they need it most.
