#Help1Family on Red Cross Giving Day March 28
March is Red Cross Month and the American Red Cross is asking people across New Jersey to become a hero by giving blood, becoming a volunteer or making a donation to #help1family on Giving Day – March 28.
“The Red Cross is powered by our volunteer heroes who give of their time, talents and compassion to fulfill our vital humanitarian mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering,” said Susan Rounds, interim CEO, American Red Cross New Jersey Region. “They are people from your neighborhood who donate blood, who teach First Aid and CPR classes, who support those in need at what may be the worst time in their lives. We celebrate them during Red Cross Month and ask you to consider joining us and making a difference.”
March has been recognized as Red Cross Month for the last 75 years. Beginning with President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1943, every U.S. President has designated March as Red Cross Month to recognize how the American Red Cross helps people across the country and around the world.

During March, several iconic New Jersey locations and landmarks will be illuminated RED to recognize Red Cross Month, including both Harrah’s Resort and Caesars Atlantic City, the Battleship New Jersey in Camden, the Prudential Center Marquee in Newark, the popular Wildwoods sign and beach balls, the West Wildwood welcome sign, and the New Jersey State House on March 26.
The Red Cross invites everyone to participate in the following events in New Jersey during Red Cross Month:
An American Red Cross blood drive will be held on March 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bally’s Hotel and Casino, 1900 Pacific Avenue in Atlantic City. To make an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org.
March 1 Harlem Globetrotters Recognize Red Cross Month in Lincroft
The American Red Cross enters the second season with the Harlem Globetrotters as its official charity partner through the team’s Great Assist initiative. The Globetrotters will recognize Red Cross Month during their 7:00 p.m. game at Collins Arena in Lincroft.
March 3 Red Cross Home Fire Campaign in Morristown

Join the ceremony and flag raising on Sunday from noon to 1:00 p.m. aboard the Battleship New Jersey at 62 Battleship Drive in Camden.
March 4 New Jersey Devils Recognize Red Cross Month in Newark
The New Jersey Devils will recognize Red Cross Month during their game with the Vegas Golden Knights at 5:00 p.m. at the Prudential Center in Newark.
March 10 Red Cross Home Fire Campaign in Perth Amboy

March 10 New Jersey Devils Blood Drive at the Prudential Center in Newark

Red Cross volunteers and employees will be at the State House on March 26 as the State of New Jersey Senate and General Assembly present a joint resolution to the American Red Cross New Jersey Region recognizing March as Red Cross Month.
March 28 Giving Day
The Red Cross is asking everyone to support people impacted by disasters and #help1family on Giving Day – Wednesday, March 28. Your donation can help provide hope and urgent relief such as food, blankets and other essentials to people who need it most. Giving Day is a 24-hour fundraising campaign supporting the work of the Red Cross, helping people across the country in need of emergency assistance. Donate now by visiting redcross.org/givingday.
In addition, numerous counties and municipalities will be issuing proclamations recognizing March is Red Cross Month across the state.

New Jersey residents can help support the Red Cross while filing their 2017 NJ State Tax Returns. Donations can be made by checking box 64 on the NJ-1040 Form and entering Code 14 for the American Red Cross-NJ Fund.
