Price Chopper/Market 32 - 2016 Give What Fire Takes Campaign

Give What Fire Takes
“[Support] in September helps to ensure that we can provide relief to fire victims all year long."

During the month of September, Price Chopper/Market 32 is once again joining forces with the American Red Cross to “Give What Fire Takes”. From September 1–30, 2016, Price Chopper/Market 32 shoppers can join the effort to support families affected by home fires, and enable communities to prepare for these tragic events, by making donations to Red Cross Home Fire Relief at checkout. Price Chopper/Market 32 will match all donations made during the month, up to $5,000.

“The Red Cross responds to more than 400 disasters in our region each year, and the vast majority of those are home fires,” said Gary Striar, chief executive officer for the American Red Cross Eastern New York Region. “The support we receive from Price Chopper, Market 32 and their customers in September helps to ensure that we can provide relief to fire victims all year long. It also allows us to offer free resources in our community to promote fire safety and help reduce fire-related deaths and injuries.”

“We hear so many news stories about home loss due to fire, and the Red Cross is always a part of those stories, providing shelter and assistance to the victims,” said Pam Cerrone, Price Chopper/Market 32 Director of Community Relations. “Our involvement in the ‘Give What Fire Takes’ campaign raises awareness about the support provided by the Red Cross after a fire, and gives people an opportunity to support their efforts. We’re so pleased to be able to help an organization that helps so many.”

NewsChannel 13 has partnered with Price Chopper/Market 32 and the Red Cross to provide media support for this campaign in the Capital Region. “We are pleased to be partnering again this year with the American Red Cross and Price Chopper/Market 32 on the ‘Give What Fire Takes’ campaign,” said Steve Baboulis, vice president and general manager for NewsChannel 13. “We hope that you will keep local fire victims in mind and donate at the register when you visit Price Chopper/Market 32 this month.”

Every eight minutes, the Red Cross responds to a home fire or other disaster in the United States. All gifts made to Home Fire Relief through the “Give What Fire Takes” campaign will enable the Red Cross to provide critical services to people impacted by home fires, along with lifesaving tools and information to support home fire prevention efforts.
