Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. and the American Red Cross of Central New York are teaming up to urge everyone to be “Red Cross Ready” for emergencies.

September is National Preparedness Month when all Americans are encouraged to follow simple steps in advance to ensure they are adequately prepared to recover from a disaster.

From Sept. 18 – 24, “Red Cross Ready” displays will be set up at nine Wegmans stores in Central New York. Guests will be able to collect educational materials to help them prepare in the event of an emergency. The displays will provide information about common types of natural and man-made disasters and teach effective ways to prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters as an individual, family and community.

Becoming “Red Cross Ready” for an emergency means following simple steps in advance to ensure people can weather a crisis safely and comfortably. It’s as easy at 1-2-3:

1) Get a Kit – Learn the essential supplies for first aid and survival kits

2) Make a Plan – Plan effectively in the case of an emergency

3) Be Informed – Understand which disasters are likely in the area and what residents must know to stay safe.

The displays will be located at each Wegmans store next to the Pharmacy.
