Red Cross Disaster Relief Assistance Ongoing

Red Cross Flag

(GREENSBORO, N.C. – May 3, 2018) – The American Red Cross serving the Piedmont Triad continues to provide support to residents displaced because of a destroyed or significantly damaged home due to the April 15th EF2 tornado that hit Greensboro.

Red Cross volunteers have been going to every address identified as destroyed or with significant damage and speaking with residents to help assess their needs and what assistance may be available to them.  As happens following disasters such as this, many are not home. Volunteers are leaving behind contact information. In addition, the Red Cross has been staffing the Disaster Relief Centers since they first opened.

While the Disaster Relief Center at Peeler Recreation Center closed Wednesday, and the one at the Willow Oaks Community Center is scheduled to close Friday, residents seeking disaster assistance may contact the Red Cross by calling 571-422-3170 to see what type of disaster relief assistance they may qualify for. This phone number has been specially designated for Greensboro tornado assistance.
