WATFORD CITY, N.D. (July 10, 2018) – The American Red Cross is in Watford City, ND to assist people affected by the tornado that hit early Tuesday morning.

Several Red Cross volunteers and staff are on scene working with government and community partners to support an emergency shelter. The Red Cross is providing water, food and snacks, as well as comfort items such as blankets, cots and comfort kits.

Anyone displaced by this storm can go to the Watford City Civic Center for a safe place to stay. Our teams are working closely with emergency officials in McKenzie County to assess the needs of the community and will continue to provide support as needed.

PREPARING FOR SEVERE WEATHER With the National Weather Service forecasting the possibility of more severe weather, the Red Cross urges everyone to review thunderstorm safety and preparedness information.

  • Pick a safe place in your home for family members to gather during a thunderstorm. This should be away from windows, skylights and glass doors that could be broken by strong winds or hail.
