Long Island Recognizes Dedicated Volunteers

Long Island Recognizes Dedicated Volunteers
“It can never be said often enough—our volunteers truly are the best."

The American Red Cross on Long Island celebrated its dedicated volunteers March 5th at its annual Volunteer Recognition event. Nearly 150 people attended the event, which was held in Woodbury, N.Y., and honors Long Island’s Red Cross volunteers who help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Special recognition was given to 11 individual volunteers, one Red Cross youth club and one partner organization for their extraordinary commitment to carrying out the Red Cross mission.

“It can never be said often enough—our volunteers truly are the best,” said Liz Barker, Interim CEO of the Long Island Red Cross, addressing the attendees. “You are the backbone of this organization, allowing us to build stronger and more resilient communities, and to be there 24/7 for our neighbors in need.”
