A day of service and a festival of food and fun

The American Red Cross, Ladder 19 Restaurant & Bar, the Cincinnati Fire Department and Old Firehouse Brewery are partnering to create "Saved by the Bell," one of the city's most festive and rewarding days of service. Join us.

WHAT: A free smoke alarm installation event around Clifton, followed by a chili cookoff and festival.

WHEN: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 16, from noon to 6:00 p.m.

WHERE: Beginning and ending at Ladder 19 Restaurant & Bar, 2701 Vine St., Clifton.

WHY: Smoke alarms save lives. Every day, seven people die as a result of home fires, and working smoke alarms increase the chances of survival by 50 percent.

HOW: Email saundra.oprea@redcross.org and let her know you're coming. Then show up, serve and be served.
