American Red Cross Announces New Executive Director of Northeast Tennessee Chapter

(Kingsport, Tenn.), May 17, 2018 — The Tennessee Region of the American Red Cross is pleased to announce Kalen Collins as Executive Director for the Northeast Tennessee chapter.

Collins joins the Northeast Tennessee Chapter as Executive Director following the retirement of long time Executive Director Glenda Bobalik. In her role, Collins will oversee volunteer development, fundraising, relationship management, stewarding the board of directors and leading the local Red Cross team.

“We are thrilled to have Kalen join the Red Cross leadership team in Tennessee,” said Joel Sullivan, Regional CEO.  “Her passion for the community and fresh perspective is something that really excites us.  We look forward to supporting her as she shares the Red Cross mission throughout the community.”

Previously, Collins served four and a half years with the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. During this time, she served as the Operations Manager of the Southwest Virginia Cultural Heritage Foundation, was a four-time recipient of the Spot Award, two-time Employee of the Month, and a nominee for a statewide customer service award

Collins is a Southwest Virginia native, growing up in the mountains of Castlewood, VA.  She attended King University, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Technical & Professional Communications, along with a Master’s of Business Administration. During this time, Kalen was also a member of the King University Women’s Basketball Team, where she served as captain two of her five years.  

Collins is an advocate of promoting community and helping others. She has served as a volunteer basketball coach for Bristol Tennessee Parks & Recreation, AAU basketball coach, coordinated the King University Make-A-Wish and Locks of Love drives, as well as volunteering and participating in many community service projects.

The American Red Cross of Northeast Tennessee serves Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington counties in Tennessee.
