(Houston, TX – May 12, 2016) – Anheuser-Busch Foundation, a member of the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program, has committed $100,000 to American Red Cross disaster relief in response to the devastating, recent flooding in the Greater Houston area.
"It's an honor to support the Red Cross' disaster relief efforts in our local community," said Peter Roberts, general manager of Anheuser-Busch's Houston brewery. "Together, we have helped many people during life's most devastating moments, providing clean drinking water, a warm meal or safe place to rest. We are truly impressed by the Red Cross' ability to respond to disasters in such a quick and impactful manner."
In addition to this generous financial support, Anheuser-Busch provided more than 100,000 cans of clean drinking water for residents throughout Houston’s Harris and Waller counties shortly after storms raged through the area in mid-April. Communities there were in dire need of fresh drinking water after widespread flooding compromised reserves.
More than 4,500 homes in the Greater Houston area took on water the week of April 18. The American Red Cross has been working day and night since then to offer shelter, meals, relief supplies and comfort to flood victims. As of May 9, 2016, more than 2,300 trained Red Cross workers have:
“We are deeply grateful for Anheuser-Busch Foundation’s generous donation,” said Steve Vetrano, Regional CEO, American Red Cross of the Texas Gulf Coast. “It will help us continue offering food, shelter and comfort to those devastated by the Houston floods as well as services to help them on the long road to recovery.”
