Locals are invited to donate items for active duty military overseas
American Red Cross Virginia Region aims to collect more than 1,000 pounds for troops
ROANOKE, Va., (August 4, 2016)—The public is invited to join the Red Cross this Saturday, August 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m at a Support Our Troops Collection. The Red Cross of Virginia will be collecting financial donations and items to send overseas to active duty military. The goal is to collect more than 1,000 pounds of products. These items will be distributed to troops serving in Kuwait and Djibouti.
Much needed items for the troops include snack size food like hard candies, cookies, granola bars, nuts chips, power bars, pretzels trail mix, a variety of crackers, and beef jerky. Personal hygiene products are also needed including body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand sanitizer, baby wipes, lotion, foot powder, lip balm, sunscreen, razors and refills, shaving cream, feminine products, cold/heat packs, deodorant, fly swatters, non-aerosol insect repellent, toothpaste, toothbrushes and mouth wash. Movies on DVD and international phone cards are also in need for the troops.
