Cape Cod 5K Honors Boston Marathon Bombing Responders

Nearly 150 participants enjoyed a picture perfect day for the 3rd Annual Disaster 5K Run/Walk on Oct. 19, which raised money for disaster relief and paid respect to heroic first responders.

This year’s 5K featured a special ceremony to honor those public servants who responded to the Boston Marathon Bombing 6-months ago, including many of our own Red Cross volunteers. Honorees included:

After the touching ceremony, 5K participants, donned in costumes, hit the pavement. Jason McWhirter of Centerville and Jitka Borowick of Hyannis took first place, while the Yarnall Family Heroes and Mischa Borowick won the costume contest.
