Cape Cod Officials: We couldn’t do our job without the Red Cross

We couldn’t do our job without the Red Cross
The American Red Cross is vital to their work in the community.

Local officials yesterday shared a common reaction at the Red Cross Cape Cod & Islands Legislative Breakfast: “I didn’t know that!”

The annual breakfast aims to educate local officials on the work of the Red Cross. On May 12, guests expressed their sincere gratitude for our volunteers.

Officials like Harwich Fire Chief Norman Clarke said the American Red Cross is vital to their work in the community.

“They said they couldn’t do their job without us,” explained Hilary Greene, Executive Director of the Cape & Islands Red Cross. “They said it isn’t a matter of ‘maybe we’ll call the Red Cross,’ it is always the Red Cross because we are always there for people when they really need us.”

Falmouth Fire Chief Mark Sullivan echoed that sentiment, and explained how Falmouth would’ve have difficulty keeping citizens safe during the February 2013 Blizzard had the Red Cross not opened shelter.

Thanks to Rep. Brian Mannal, Lance Lambros from Senator Therese Murray’s office, Susan Rohrbach from Senator Dan Wolf’s office, Dorothy Smith from Rep. Sarah Peake’s office for attending.
