If you’re a guest at a Red Cross shelter, one thing’s for sure: You’re going to get fed.
Craigie on Main, the famed Central Square eatery that has been written up just about everywhere, catered dinner for the guests staying at a shelter Wednesday night. They served guests and shelter staff pasta, broccoli and onions, and salad.
On Sunday, when a pipe burst at the YWCA in Cambridge, all 98 residents were displaced. At the request of the city and the YWCA, the American Red Cross of Massachusetts immediately brought in a shelter trailer full of supplies – cots, blankets, toothbrushes -- and started to set up a shelter at a youth center. The Red Cross, working with the city, was still sheltering 43 of the YMCA's residents at the St. Paul AME Church on Wednesday night.
