Cape Cod and Islands volunteers had a busy Saturday, October 4th, by both hosting a Fire Safety Fair at the Home Depot in Hyannis AND participating in the the Falmouth Emergency Preparedness Fair.
The preparation events came as National Preparedness Month drew to a close and Fire Prevention Week began. Our volunteers were more than willing to share their knowledge in order to help their community be more prepared for any disaster; particularly home fires which cause over $7 billion in damages every year.
The two biggest tips we can offer on how to prevent a home fire are:
1. Get a smoke alarm (and make sure its working)
2. Make a fire escape plan (and practice it!)
Special thanks to all our volunteers who helped run these events and continue to help our organization work towards our mission of relieving human suffering!
