More than 80 boy and girl scouts are now better prepared to face disaster, thanks to a day spent with the American Red Cross and AmeriCorps.
Volunteers on Jan. 25 hosted the 7th Annual Emergency Preparedness Scout Fair in Mashpee, inviting Cub Scouts and Junior Girl Scouts to participate in various preparedness activities.
AmeriCorps volunteers set up 15 stations covered topics like bike/car safety, basic first aid, swim safety, making a disaster kit, planning an escape route, emergency contact information and insect and bite first aid. Red Cross disaster volunteers even swung by in an Emergency Response Vehicle to talk about local disaster response.
