WHITE LAKE, February 5, 2014 – The American Red Cross is looking for volunteers who will help work on blood drives in Whitehall and Montague. Blood drives are held at various locations throughout the White Lake area with varying dates and times.
Volunteers are needed for registration and canteen. The registration position involves helping the donors to sign in and read over donating guidelines. The canteen position handles the observation of donors once they’ve finished with the nurses, handing out snacks and beverages.
“If you enjoy working with people and have 3 – 4 hours a month to offer, we have a spot for you!” said Abbey Bogue, Blood Services Coordinator. Drives are held at Howmet, Montague VFW, Hilite International, and Diversified Machine.
Like the emergency room of a hospital, the American Red Cross must be prepared to respond to patient emergencies with blood products 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Through the everyday support and generosity of blood donors, blood drive sponsors and community volunteers, the Red Cross can be prepared to do this day-in and day-out, no matter when or where blood products are needed.
