The American Red Cross Northern Minnesota Region has named Dan Williams of Superior, Wisconsin as the new Community Chapter Executive for its chapters in Duluth and Bemidji. Williams replaces Judy Hanne Gonzalez, who served as executive of the two chapters for 4 years and has accepted a new position with the Red Cross.
“Dan is a passionate advocate for building better communities,” says Phil Hansen, Regional Chapter Executive, American Red Cross Northern Minnesota Region, based in Minneapolis. “His previous experience working to support a humanitarian mission is a good fit for the Red Cross.”
Williams comes to the Red Cross from Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota where he has served for 15 years. Most recently, he’s led a team of financial counselors, helping families deal with overwhelming debt, avoid foreclosure and build savings for retirement. In addition, Williams has worked closely with the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office and Minnesota Department of Commerce to support consumer rights.
His professional career includes recognition from the national American Psychological Association’s “Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award” for his training and workplace connectedness practices. Also, Williams was nominated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a White House “Champions of Change” award in 2012.
Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin – Superior. Williams and his family live in Superior, WI.
