Holiday Mail for Heroes

While it may not seem like much, a hand-written note to a service member spending time away from his or her family makes a word of difference.

The American Red Cross Northern Minnesota Region invites Americans to show their gratitude and best wishes for those who serve our country, veterans, and their families by sending holiday cards this holiday season.

Through December 6, Americans can create and send cards to service members, veterans and their families who will receive cards across the country and around the world.

“While it may not seem like much, a hand-written note to a service member spending time away from his or her family makes a word of difference,” says Phil Hansen, Regional Chapter Executive for the American Red Cross Northern Minnesota Region.

The Northern Minnesota Region of the American Red Cross will support Holiday Mail for Heroes with a card signing event at the Mall of America on Sunday, November 10, from 10AM – 3PM in Nordstrom Court. Everyone is welcome. Cards will be provided. Thank you to Deluxe Corporation and CenterPoint Energy for generous support.

As a special thank you to our veterans, active-duty military, and their families, the Mall of America and Nickelodeon Universe are generously donating 1,500 free passes to the theme park. Request tickets online. They’re offered on a first-come, first-serve basis, for use on November 10, 2013.

For those unable to attend the card signing event, the Red Cross invites the public to send messages of thanks and holiday cheer by mailing them to:

To ensure that cards are delivered in time for the holidays, they must be postmarked no later than December 6. Individuals are asked to refrain from sending letters, monetary donations or any other kinds of inserts with the cards. Please also refrain from using glitter.
